Through this journey, I have learned valuable lessons, faced challenges, and experienced personal growth. From an early age, I was fascinated by the night sky and spent countless hours observing the stars, imagining that if looked hard enough my faith and beliefs would be reafirmed. This curiosity sparked my interest in understanding the constellations, planets, and the forces that govern our universe. However, this blog post is not about faith or the stars; it is about introducing myself and giving you a deeper understanding of who I am and who we are at QuizMyBrainz.com.
For 14 years, I had the privilege of being a teacher. I started my journey teaching Pre-K students, where I had a successful record of helping them learn to read and write. My dedication and passion for teaching led me to move up to 1st grade. While not every student achieved grade-level reading, I was proud of the progress they made and the supportive community we fostered.
As my desire for exceptional results grew, I became more focused on achieving extraordinary outcomes without considering the individual needs of my students. I pushed them hard, neglecting their basic needs and interests. In my pursuit of excellence, I lost sight of the bigger picture and failed to be a shield or filter for my students. This realization came with a heavy heart.
Negative feedback and lies from a few bad actors made my wife and me question the education system and its unrealistic expectations. Frustrated, we decided to leave the teaching profession. We were not trying to change the world; we simply wanted to express our frustration and heal our inner wounds. Sinking deep in sulking, and brooding in my house led my personal journey to self-reflection and to take the steps necessary to find my sense of wonder once again.
After taking time to heal, I now see the future through different eyes. I am pursuing my interests in music and languages, and I have embarked on a new career as a Cisco Cybersecurity specialist. QuizMyBrainz has evolved from an initial idea seeded 6 years ago to a beautiful reality, with an upgraded website that includes online activities and quizzes. We are committed to providing quality products fueled by the insights and passion of my wife who has returned to the classroom, what an incredible teacher she is.
