Level 2: Main Idea with Sentences
Objective: Apply the concept at the sentence level by identifying the main idea among related details.
Activity: Students read a set of four sentence strips and determine which one is the main idea and which three are the supporting details.
Includes 8 different topics such as: Dogs, Fruits, The School Garden, Being a Good Friend, and more.
Level 3: Main Idea in Paragraphs
Objective: Extract the main idea and key details directly from an informational text.
Activity: Students read a short paragraph on a task card, identify the topic, main idea, and three details, and fill out a corresponding graphic organizer.
Includes 6 high-interest paragraphs on topics like: The Sun, Butterflies, Shark Teeth, The Moon, Silkworms, and The Milky Way.
