Orthographic Mapping without the mess

Original price was: $4.00.Current price is: $0.00.

🧠 WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS?

According to the Science of Reading, students do not learn words by memorizing “shapes.” They learn by Orthographic Mapping—the process of forming letter-sound connections.

  • This activity moves beyond simple spelling.

  • It forces the student to isolate sounds (segmenting) before they ever type a letter.

  • The Self-Checking feature provides immediate feedback, which is crucial for building confidence in struggling readers.

Description

This “Tap It, Map It, Graph It” resource is designed to help students permanently store words in their long-term memory by connecting sounds (phonemes) to letters (graphemes). It is completely digital, interactive, and aligned with the Science of Reading.

Ideal for: Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and Intervention Groups.

✨ HOW IT WORKS (The 3-Step Routine)

Students follow a structured, multi-sensory routine on every slide:

  1. 👀 TAP IT: Students look at the target image and drag a Digital Ring over a dot for each sound they hear (Phonemic Awareness).

  2. 🔴 MAP IT: Students drag a Digital Chip into an Elkonin Box for every sound (Segmenting).

  3. ✏️ GRAPH IT: Students type the letters that correspond to the sounds on primary writing lines (Phonics & Encoding).

  4. ✅ CHECK IT: The “Magic Reveal” feature allows students to slide a cover block to self-correct their work instantly!

📂 HOW IS THIS ORGANIZED?

This resource is organized by Vowel Sound to help you target specific phonics instruction. You can assign the whole deck, or copy/paste specific slides for the vowel you are teaching this week.
